Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup Red Gold® Mama Selita’s Jalapeño Ketchup 20 oz
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 tsp Italian seasonings
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1-2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 25-30 wonton wrappers
- Oil, for frying
Instructions
Step one
Make the filling: In a bowl, combine the mozzarella, Mama Selita’s Jalapeño Ketchup, Parmesan,Italian seasonings, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, basil, and parsley. Stir until everything is evenly distributed and the mixture is well combined.
Step two
Prepare your workstation: Fill a small bowl with water and keep it nearby for sealing the wonton wrappers. Place a few wonton wrappers on a clean work surface, keeping the remaining wrappers covered with a damp paper towel so they don’t dry out.
Step three
Fill the wrappers: Place each wonton wrapper in a diamond shape with one corner pointing toward you. Add about ½ tablespoon of filling to the center, being careful not to overfill.
Step four
Seal the rolls: Dip your finger in water and lightly moisten all four edges of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner up and over the filling, then fold the left and right corners toward the center. Finally, fold the top corner down over the filling, creating an envelope shape. Press firmly along all the edges to seal. Make sure there are no gaps where the filling could escape during frying.
Step five
Heat the oil: Pour enough vegetable oil into a deep, heavy-bottomed pan to allow the pizza rolls to cook without touching the bottom. Heat the oil to 350°F.
Step six
Fry: Carefully place the pizza rolls into the hot oil in small batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crisp on all sides.
Step seven
Drain & Serve: Transfer the pizza rolls to a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack and let them drain for a minute. Optionally, while still hot, toss them in garlic butter and a little extra grated Parmesan until evenly coated. Serve and enjoy!
