Sausage Marinara with Peppers

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1 large red onion, cut into 2 inch chunks
  • 2 red bell peppers, cut into 2 inch chunks
  • 2 green bell peppers, cut into 2 inch chunks
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 (28 ounce) can Tuttorosso® Italian Inspirations Peeled Plum Tomatoes in Puree
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Step one

In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium high heat. Add vegetables; cook and stir until onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step two

Add sausage, breaking up with wooden spoon, and cook 4 minutes or until sausage is brown. Add peeled plum tomatoes, oregano, salt and black pepper.

Step three

Cover and simmer for 25 minutes, until peppers are soft.

Step four

Serve with crusty Italian bread.

Step five

Option: Serve over noodles or rice.
