Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound shaved steak
  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 can Red Gold Mild Diced Tomatoes + Green Chilies 10 oz, drained very well (or Original Diced for a bit more heat)

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 10–12 small flour tortillas (street size)
  • 1½ cups shredded provolone cheese
  • cooking spray or melted butter, for brushing

Instructions

Step one

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step two

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shaved steak and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to a plate.

Step three

Add the onion to the skillet and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, until softened.

Step four

Stir in the drained Red Gold Mild Diced Tomatoes + Green Chilies, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until any excess moisture has evaporated. Return the steak to the skillet and stir to combine. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.

Step five

Lay a tortilla flat. Spoon a small amount of the steak mixture down the center and top with some of the provolone. Roll tightly like a taquito and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.

Step six

Lightly brush with melted butter or spray the tops with cooking spray. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.

Step seven

Let cool slightly before serving. Serve with ketchup, garlic aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.
