

Elwood, Indiana (August 4, 2025) – Emma Urick has been named the 2025 Red Gold Food Science Scholarship Award recipient. The Red Gold Purdue Food Science Scholarship is awarded to Purdue University students with strong aptitudes for a career in food science. In addition to the scholarship, Red Gold rewards the recipient with a paid internship at their Corporate Headquarters, along with hands-on experience at their three state-of-the-art food processing facilities and in their product development lab.
Emma is the daughter of Nicole and Tom Urick of Carmel, IN. Emma is currently a junior working towards her Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University majoring in Food Science with a Minor in Fermentation Science expecting to graduate in May of 2027. Emma is a member of the Food Science Club, Greek Life, and IM Sports at Purdue. Through her internship with Red Gold, Emma gained valuable experience through working on multiple projects at once, product formulation, and analytical testing. “The internship with Red Gold reaffirmed that my passion for food science is something that I can really go far with. I was supported and valued while expanding my knowledge about food science thanks to Red Gold!”
