Ingredients

COPY INGREDIENTS
2 pounds ground chicken (or turkey)2 teaspoons kosher salt, plus more to taste1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper1 teaspoon paprika1 teaspoon garlic powder1 can Red Gold® Petite Diced Tomatoes 14.5 oz1 tablespoon Red Gold® Tomato Paste 6 oz2 garlic cloves, mincedpinch of granulated sugar1 cup shredded cheese of choiceParmesan cheese, for topping, optional

Instructions

Prepare the Ground Meat Base:

  • In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken or turkey with salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder.  Set aside.

Make the Marinara Sauce:

  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, add Red Gold Petite Diced Tomatoes, Red Gold Tomato Paste, minced garlic, and a pinch of sugar.
  • Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down and the sauce thickens. Mash the tomatoes to your preferred consistency and let the sauce cool.

Shape and Fill the Calzone:

  • Lay a sheet of parchment paper on a flat surface.
  • Take half of the ground meat mixture and press it into a thin circle to form the base of the calzone.
  • Spread about 1 tablespoon of marinara sauce onto one side of the meat, then add shredded cheese and any additional fillings (optional).
  • Use the parchment paper to fold the meat over, sealing the edges to create a calzone shape. Pinch the edges together.

Cook the Calzones and Serve:

  • Sprinkle shredded or grated Parmesan on top if using.
  • Air fry at 400°F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
  • Serve warm with a side of the prepared marinara sauce for dipping.
