Red Gold Donates to Indiana Flood Recovery Efforts

Red Gold, Inc., an Indiana-based tomato grower and food manufacturer, is donating more than $50,000 in financial and food assistance to support Hoosiers affected by recent flooding across the state.

Red Gold donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross, Indiana Region, to support flood recovery efforts in affected counties. The company also made a substantial donation of Red Gold tomato products to Midwest Food Bank, which is partnering with the Red Cross to provide food to communities impacted by the flooding.

“Midwest Food Bank is operating feeding stations in the hardest-hit areas and is also distributing pantry staples to families who lost their food in the flood,” said Matt McKaig, Procurement Manager for Midwest Food Bank. “We are grateful to get much-needed food service sizes of canned foods, as well as retail-size tomato products for people in need.”

The Red Gold food donation includes ketchup, salsa, tomato juice, sloppy joe sauce, spaghetti sauce and two varieties of diced tomatoes. The products were selected with both emergency feeding operations and families in mind.

“I picked ready-to-eat items and things that can be used at feeding stations that are serving large crowds,” said Brian Reichart, President and CEO of Red Gold. “Indiana is our home, and fellow Hoosiers need our help.”

Red Gold has a long-standing tradition of supporting communities affected by natural disasters and other emergencies. Over the years, the company and its growers have contributed to relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina, tornadoes in Kentucky and Indiana, flooding in South Carolina, Hurricane Harvey and other disasters.
