

Handheld pizza for busy families on the go! Yummy pizza ingredients all wrapped in pre-made pizza or crescent dough. You decide what toppings to add; veggies, sausage, pepperoni, whatever you like! If you don’t like extra spice, feel free to leave out the red pepper for a milder sauce.
Ingredients
- SPICY PIZZA SAUCE
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1/2 cup white wine, or vegetable broth
4 tablespoons Red Gold® Canned Tomato Paste 6 oz
2 cans Red Gold® Petite Diced Tomatoes with Garlic & Olive Oil 14.5 oz
- 1 teaspoon red pepper
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
- PIZZA STROMBOLI
- 1 refrigerator pizza crust, or crescent roll sheet
- 1 (8 ounce) package shredded pizza cheese
- 1 cup Spicy Pizza Sauce
- 1 cup assorted vegetables (green pepper, onion, mushrooms and spinach leaves), chopped
- 1 egg, beaten
- Pinch of salt

Instructions
Spicy Pizza Sauce – Step one (makes 2 1/2 cups)
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onions and sauté until they are soft, about 4 minutes. Add the garlic and wine; cook for an additional minute.
Step two
Stir in tomato paste, diced tomatoes, red pepper, salt and black pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until thickened. Stir in the vinegar; cool.
Pizza Stromboli – Step one (makes 1 large)
Preheat oven to 375° F. Remove crescent roll sheet from tube and place on baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Roll dough into a 10 X 14” rectangle.
Step two
Spread ½ of cheese down the center third of the dough. Top with Spicy Pizza Sauce and chopped vegetables. Top with remaining cheese.
Step three
Cut 1” crosswise strips down the sides of the rectangle. Starting from one end, bring one of the dough strips across the filling diagonally. Repeat on the other side, crisscrossing the dough strips. Continue down the rest of the braid, alternating strips to form the loaf.
Step four
In a small bowl combine egg and salt to make a wash. Brush on top of Stromboli loaf. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Step five
Option: Pepperoni or crumbled cooked sausage could be added when placing the vegetables. Any remaining pizza sauce can be frozen for a future Pizza Stromboli or regular pizza.
