Perfect Marinara Sauce

This classic, staple marinara recipe stars just six ingredients, making it pretty much foolproof and absolutely delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, peeled and left whole
  • 2 tablespoons Redpack® Tomato Paste Can 6 oz

  • 1 (28 ounce) can Redpack® Whole Peeled Plum Tomatoes 28 oz, crushed by hand

  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 5 fresh whole basil leaves
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Step one

Heat oil in skillet, add garlic and cook over medium heat until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add the tomato paste and cook, stirring for 1 minute.

Step two

Add the whole peeled tomatoes, sugar and basil. Stir to combine and then add salt and black pepper and bring to a boil. Simmer the sauce over low heat, stirring occasionally until thickened and reduced, about 30 minutes. Season again with salt and pepper. Discard basil and garlic.

Step three

Serve over your favorite pasta.

Step four

Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan and torn basil leaves.
